THE PHOTOGRAPHER

  • Documentary with an eye for couples portraits. I'll capture the big moments as well as details like the weather, surroundings, lighting, decor, guests etc… everything that combines to tell the story the day.

  • It's my preference to capture the day organically as it unfolds in front of me. I have no specific demands, I'll work around you and your plan for your day. I will never ask you to re-do or fake something for a picture, I want you to look back at a gallery full of authentic moments that stir up real memories. Of course there are times when I will direct or prompt when needed, particularly during portraits, and equally I’m happy be asked to take specific shots, but please rest assured my goal is always to capture real moments in an artistic a way as possible.

  • I shoot with one camera at a time and use only prime lenses. I find this approach to be less invasive overall on the day and using prime lenses allows for the highest quality of imagery while also promoting a more considered approach to composition. Generally I keep the equipment I use as subtle as possible.

  • EDITING - I describe my editing style as atmospheric. Ultimately when I'm editing I'm looking to ensure the colours are beautiful, skin tones are natural and the atmosphere in that moment is preserved for you to relive. As standard I will edit all images to my signature style, which includes my unique colour treatment, exposure and lighting choices, cropping and straightening, and obvious blemish/object removal.

    ADDITIONAL EDITING

I am able to offer an extended bespoke editing service. I have extensive retouching experience and when requested I can use utilise this. While I will edit all images with the goal of removing obvious blemishes and ensuring the couple look great, standard editing does not go as far as to include background / foreground object removal, hair line correction/fixing fly-aways, use of AI, replacing the sky or altering dresses / body / features etc... please discuss with me if you feel you would like be looking for additional editing services.

THE WEDDING DAY

  • Arguably what I'm known for. My clients have varying levels of comfort zones and I'll work with you to bring out the best in you.

Typically I try and capture couples portraits over two shorter sessions (post ceremony because it's often a natural gap in the proceedings, and then last light of day/softer evening light) rather than one long session. This means we can utilise the best lighting on the day for the best results and ensure you are never away from your guests for too long (unless you want to be).

  • I strive to shoot outside in natural light as much as possible to ensure the best results (more light = better quality images), and I'm happy to do so in all weather conditions. My hope is that you share this ethos and see the opportunity to get outside for pictures as something to look forward to and are appropriately prepared for this (change of shoes, brollies/warm jacket if need be).

  • I love taking these, but I struggle when it comes to herding guests.

It takes on average five minutes to assemble and capture each family portrait at a wedding.

Even with the best intentions, people always seem to go missing right when you need them, nor do they come quickly when called, as I'm sure you well know!

For this reason, If I am required to organise and capture these without a wedding/venue planner/co-ordinator assistance on the day I will need to limit this to six formal family portraits.

That's still 30 minutes of you standing in the same spot waiting on other people!

An example six to help you visualise this (includes divorced parents scenario):

    1. Couple & all guests*

    2. Couple & partner one family (parents, children, siblings, grandparents)

    3. Couple & partner two "Mum's family" (parents, children, siblings, grandparents)

    4. Couple & partner two "Dad's family" (parents, children, siblings, grandparents)

    5. Couple & all wedding party (bridesmaids, flower girls, groomsmen, ushers etc...)

    6. Couple & all friends

*dependent on available space & weather

PLEASE NOTE: the list does not include dedicated bridesmaid or groomsmen pictures because I don't consider them formal portraits. They are way more fun and relaxed and something we can do almost anytime throughout the day.

If a planner/co-ordinator will be in attendance and will be organising this section of the day I can accommodate a slightly longer list of family portraits.

  • In order to keep the quality of my service as high as I expect it to be, there are instances where I will require the support of a second shooter. For weddings with more than 60 guests in attendance a second shooter is mandatory however there may be other reasons I choose to state a second shooter as a requirement for an enquiry, such as limitations with timeline/running order or logistical issues.

How a second shooter adds value to your day:

    • Morning Prep - Ensures that both mornings/pre ceremony preparations are properly covered and allows for more quality time with each party - coverage of both prep is not guaranteed when I am shooting solo.

    • Guest Coverage - Helps capture candid moments of all guests, and little details planned into the day.

    • Second Angle - From a story telling perspective it is great to be able to capture the big moments on the day from two angles.

    • Details - High quality coverage of all the little details of a wedding is time consuming and a second shooter helps make sure we don’t miss anything.

    • Image count - If more pictures is high on the list of priorities having a second shooter can increase the number of images in the final gallery by 200-400.

In general a second shooter helps the photography of your day run a little smoother. I only work with photographers that I consider friends, and who's skill level I completely trust. They provide me with their images at the end of the day and I edit them to fit in seamlessly with my own, offering one complete cohesive gallery. A second shooter is an additional cost of £600 which covers their hours and the additional editing required.

  • If you don't know what a wedding content creator is fear not, this means you won't want or need one! However, if you are considering hiring a wedding content creator for your day, this is something I'll need to know as this may impact how I am able to capture your day.

THE DELIVERY

6-16 weeks for the full gallery.
